Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation and debate in the context of things that you can't live without

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about Things that you 'd hate to be without. in the context of pictures

Procedure

Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context, generate interest in the topic and engage students by asking them to tell me things they would be hate without

I will talk about my things that I'd be hate without them. Then I would ask them to work in pairs and I will get the feedback.

Pre-Teach (3-5 minutes) • To prevent Ls blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers.

I will show them some pictures for the vocabulary and ask them to elicit the word, and then they will set in a context, after that drilling and writing. (ECDW)

Gist task (2-3 minutes) • To give Ls a reason to listen at a general level.

I will play the audio and ask Ls to tell me what they will get after listening.

Specific information task (5-7 minutes) • To give Ls a reason to listen for individual items of information also they will develop their pronunciation by listening.

I will demo the first one for learners then ss will listen and complete the table. They will work in pairs to check their answers and then I will give answer key.

Prepration (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss will spend a few minutes to prepare their ideas and think about how to describe five things that they 'd hate to be without. Work in pairs and give them my feedback.

Useful Language (3-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

ss will make a list of 5 objects which are important to them. I will handout "Useful Language" sheet and ask them to elicit some examples of how to use these phrases. They will work in pairs to check their answers and then I will give them my feedback.

Speaking Task (10-12 minutes) • To give Ls time to speak about the most oimportant things in their life

I will make a demo by telling them about one of my things I 'd hate to be without. I will show them the questions and ask them to start thinking individually and make note. They will spend 5 minutes making notes according to the activity 2. (Control Practice) They start to work in pairs and start to speak about their things. I will monitor them and check their speaking. I will give them my feed back. Free practice: I will discuss the topic together using Act. 4, and ask them Which are the most common objects chosen? Which is the most unusual objects chosen?

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' pronunciation and use of language

I will give them feedback on their language.
