Description

Students in this lesson will learn how to write a postcard .firstly they will look at some pictures about last holiday then they will talk about their last holiday .Ss will read a text about London Eye and answer questions quickly . I will show them a model of postcard ,go through a genre analysis then assign ss to write a post card

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a postcard in the context of Holliday

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about London Eye in the context of Holliday

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows ss her photo ten years ago ,having a holiday then ask them to tell a partner if they want to go on holiday where and why.

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T provides Ss a text about London Eye ,ask ss to read quickly and answer questions individually then check in pairs. T uses ICQs to make sure quick reading Are we going to read every single word ? no Are you going to look just for numbers or complete sentences ? numbers

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T provide a model of a postcard and highlight the main parts of it . T go through a genre analysis to clarify reason, genre, register and audience .

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T assign ss to write a post card for a friend ,using the model as a guide .

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T provide a check list to help students get their feedback properly . After writing , T ask them to swap the papers then a partner will start to put a tick in front of every point if found correct. then on board stick the best one as a model for others.
