In this lesson, students will be introduced to Relative Clauses and its usage through a text and appropiate tasks. These will focus first on accuracy and then in fluency.

Main Aims

  • To introduce Relative Clauses to students and to provide practice about TL

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of talking about themselves, a friend or relative

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1) T welcomes SS and shares screen to show video (23 sec) 2) Before showing video, T asks SS to pay attention to what the singer said 3) Show the sentence and point out its particularity - Parts of the sentence will be highlighted and underlined 4) T introduces the topic

Text Work (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1) T shares screen to show activity 2) T gives intructions: - Individual - Read dialogue to find 2 Relative Pronouns - Do tasks 1 & 2 - 3 min 3) Send link to activity 4) After 3min, check answers with whole class

MAPF (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

3min: 1) Share screen to show PPT 2) Start by mentioning and showing the Relative Pronouns 6min: (emphasis on this section, they'll need it for CP) 3) Next slide, show what a clause is(use simple definition) 4) Show differences between D & ND Clauses (provide a couple of examples) 6min: 5) Analyse two examples

Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1) T shares screen with SS to show them the new task 2) Give instructions: - Individual - Choose correct answers (D or ND) - 2 min 3) Then, send SS to BOR for 2min to check answers (peer check) (2min) 4) Provide correct answers when they come back from BOR (2min)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1) Share screen with SS so they can see task (Google Slides) 2) Give instructions briefly 3) Indicate they'll have 3 min to do the FP 4) Then, they'll do the same task, but with other SS
