Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Show Ss a picture of a family doing household chores. 2- In Ss-T interaction, I ask them "What do you see?" 3- On the board, I write down the verbs they mention. 4- I ask "What are all of those actions?" "What is the word that describes them?" 5- Brainstorm until we mention the word "Household chores".

Pre-Listening activity (4-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make sure they're familiar with the vocabulary

1- In pairs, Ss will match the words together in 3 minutes. 2- On the screen, I show them a matching activity. They should make collocations of these words and verbs. 3- I tell them to check with other partners. 4- I show the answers on the screen to check. 5- Ask them "What are the unfamiliar verbs you encountered in this activity?" 6- Discuss the hard words (if there are any) _______________________________________

While-Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

1- Individually, on their mobile phones, each student will watch this video and answer the popping questions. In 2 minutes. 2- When they finish, they share their scores individually. While-Reading/Listening #2 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

1- I tell them that this is a record of a boy and his father talking about what the boy should do before going out. Listen carefully for a minute then answer the questions below. 2- in pairs, they answer the questions in 3 minutes then they check with other partners.

Post-Reading/Listening (7-9 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

After listening and answering the questions, I ask them to switch places according to the colors of their clothes. 1- In 4 minutes discuss these questions in pairs. Questions are: What chores do men and women do at home in your country? How have things changed or remained the same during the past thirty years or so in your country? Do children do chores in your family? Do everyday people hire housekeepers to do such housework? 2- I ask some of them individually to tell me their opinions. In 3 minutes.
