Description

In this lesson, the students will listen to a person talking about her vacation. They will learn some vocab about vacation.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask students these questions: what are your thoughts on vacations? Do you like them? Do you enjoy going on vacation? Why/Why not?

Pre-Reading/Listening (3-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will show a picture of a natural disaster and say: sometimes your vacation can be ruined when something like this happens. What do we call this? and I will write the word disaster on the WB. I will show a picture of a jealous person and ask: How do you think this person is feeling? and I will write the word jealous on the WB. I will show a picture of luxury and ask: what do you think this picture shows? and then I will write the word luxury on the WB. After writing each word, I will ask the students to repeat the words.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students will listen to track 1.34 for the first time. before listening, I will ask them to listen and answer this question: Do you think she liked the vacation?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students will listen to the track for the second time and they will answer question 3 part b on page 13 of their book. then, they will check their answers in pairs and after that they will will say their answers one by one. I will give feedback if there are any mistakes.

Post-Reading/Listening (6-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will ask the students to talk about the last vacation they went on and answer these questions on the board: Where did you go to? When did you go? Who did you go with? Did you enjoy this vacation? After that, some students will be asked to talk about their vacation.
