It is a speaking lesson about " Entertainment", students are introduced to types of fun celebrations around the world like festivals.

Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of : "Acting -Characters- Costumes - Graphics -Language- Lyrics- Music -Photography -Set -Singing - Special Effects -Story" in the context of Entertainment

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ex 1 – ss rate the activity individually then compare their opinions.

Pre-Teach vocabulary : (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Using pictures, check that ss know the words in the box. Model and drill any new words.

Listening Task: (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Listening task – Ex3 Ss listen to 3 speakers and make notes (provide them with a table to fill in) – pair check, then provide tapescript as an answer key.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Set Speaking Task – Have Ss choose something from ex1 (lead-in) that they’d like to talk about. Provide them with the questions to answer and the “useful language” prompts (which they can see “in action” on the tapescript if they’d like to check it. Preparation time – allow 5 or more mins for Ss to make notes and prepare what they’re going to say. Task – In pairs, ss tell each other about their chosen topics

Feedback and Error Correction (5-7 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

use the notes I took while the students were speaking and highlight good and bad examples on the board and ask students to find the error and correct together.
