In this lesson students will learn about the different holidays found throughout the year and their characteristics

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a Christmas, New Year, Halloween, Mother's Day. in the context of Holidays

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of holidays
  • To provide detailed and deduction listening practice using a text about holidays

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

descriptive video of the festivities during the year.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

by means of corporases representations some actions of the activities will be represented (mother’s day, Christmas, hallowen)

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

with support of video and body representations ask students to do them and give to say the correct pronunciation

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

gives students the alphabet soup. read the indications to then start with the activity.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

to practice and by means of a collective participation to make a soup of letters to see if the students understood, how it is written and how it is pronounced.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

show the video with the students to make a more free practice and to reinforce the learning of pronunciation and writing.
