Main Aims

  • To get the students to understand the present progressive affirmative in a class room setting

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide vocabulary to describe a classroom setting

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T shows screen with Jam board -T ask students "what the students are doing in the photos." -T calls on 3-4 students to answer the question.

Exposure and highlighting. (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation and reveal the target language.

-T share google forms with the conversation -T ask students to read the conversation and answer the question -T ask students if they are going to just read the conversation or also answer the question. -T gives students 1 minute to look at dialogue and answer the question. -T ask students questions about the dialogue calling on one or two. -T then tells students they have one minute to identify all the words describing what the people are doing -T then ask students what are the words

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-T shares google form with the students -T tells students they will work on form together in BOR for 3-4 minutes -T goes over first answer with students -T then shares document and send students to BOR -T goes over assignment when ss return -T shows screen with wordwall with questions for form -T does first answer to show how activity works -T tells students they will work separately for 2 minutes -T after T minutes 2 goes over form with students -T shows sentence with student with pronunciation and the emphasis -T has shows similar sentence and ask ss where the pronunciation would be -T repeats last step with subsequent sentences

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

-T shows student screen wit cp -T does first Cp with students -T tells students they will work alone for 4 minutes -T then sends students to compare answers in BOR -T goes over answer when ss return to BOR

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-T shows the slide for the FR -T explains activity -T role models activity with a student -T send ss to BOR for 5 minutes -T changes partners if time is still left -T sends ss to BOR again -T does delayed corrections if needed
