Description

In this lesson, Ss learn about subject pronouns he/she and possessive adjectives of those subject pronouns: his/her, through guided learning which is based mainly on listening tasks of Headway CB. The lesson starts with a warm-up about related information to get SS ready for the upcoming language subject - introducing... This is followed by practising information via given HOs where Ss are introduced the possesive adjectives and relate the gap filling aimed listenings with introduction stage of speaking. Post listening stages covers up the pronunciation and internalization processes of lesson. At the sixth stage there is a controlled fluency practise in which the Ss exchange their information to each other in a PW, relating their previous knowledge of I/you/my/your with the task. Finally, they are asked to share the notes they take by using newly introduced and practised language of he/she/his/her

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a dialogue in a real life context of name, surname, telephone number, e-mail address by using subject pronouns and possessive adjectives of third person singular "he" / "she"; and SS to internalize how they are used

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information of listening practices via using audios about names, surnames, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses via possesive adjective in the context of subject pronoun and possessive adjective of third person singular "he" / "she"

Procedure

Stage 1 - Warm Up (2-3 minutes) • to introduce subject pronoun of "he" / "she and possessive adjective of "his" / "her" via pronunciation

T sets the task, gives SS an empty chart T reads the information by using "he/she/his/her" SS listen the teacher and fill in the chart with the information they hear, Teacher shows the answers on projector.

Stage 2 - Listening (3-4 minutes) • to practise subject pronoun of "he" and possessive adjective of "his" within a content and understanding the gist of listening

T sets the listening task - shows HO to SS for giving proper instrıuctions - Ss listen and do gap filling individually -SS peer-check their answers - T reflects the answers to the board

Stage 3 - Post-Listening (7-10 minutes) • to enchance pronunciation via drilling and back-chain drilling

T models and drills questions and answers: "What's his surname?" - "His surname is Frasier." "What's his first name?" - His first name is Bill." "Where is he from?" - He is from Chicago. "How old is he? - He is 30 years old." "Is he married? - No, he isn't. T models and does back-chain drilling: "phone number --- his phone number --- what's his phone number?" "e-mail address --- his e-mail address --- what's his e-mail address?"

Stage 4 - Listening 2 (3-4 minutes) • to practise subject pronoun of "she" and possessive adjective of "her" within a content; and understanding the gist

T sets the listening task - shows HO to SS for giving proper instrıuctions - Ss listen and do gap filling individually -SS peer-check their answers - T reflects the answers to the board

Stage 5 - Post Listening (7-10 minutes) • to reinforce the both "he/she" subject pronoun and "his/her" possessive adjective pronunciation and to help SS for internalizing learning via guided drilling

T demonstrates with a strong student to ask and answer questions T sets the task ; asks SS to do the same with their partner

Stage 6 - Speaking (10-12 minutes) • to guide the SS through using I/you subjects pronouns and my/your possessive adjectives within a real life context

T asks SS to stand up SS stand up and chooses their partner T sets the task - by showing HO of questions SS take notes the information about their partner

Stage 7 - Feedback (10-12 minutes) • to get reports from SS about their partners via using the target subject of "he/she/his/her"

T asks SS individually to report back from their notes and about their partners SS uses his/her - he/she as target language other than I/you - my/your
