Main Aims

  • To provide practice and revise extreme adjectives in the context of celebrations.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students.

1. T greets students. "Knock knockā€¦(who is there?)" 2. T asks students to talk about how they felt last time they celebrated Mexico's independence say. T nominates 2 or 3 students.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

2. T sets a gist task. Prediction task: What do you think the conversation is going to be about based on the pictures? 3. T asks studnets to write their answers in the chatbox to save them for later use. 4. Learners read and answer individually. 5. T conducts OCFB. "Were your predictions correct?"

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T highlists the TL in the conversation. "Look at the spotlighted lnguage in the text. What are these?"

Clarification (12-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language.

T clarifies the TL by using semantic maps. 1. Starving MEANING PRONUNCIATION FORM 3. Deafening MEANING PRONUNCIATION FORM 3. Soaked MEANING PRONUNCIATION FORM

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

4 T provides students with controlled practice of the language. 5.The learners do this individually and then check in pairs. 6. T send students to the BORs. 7. T conducts OCFB.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

6. T sets a communicative task for learners to use the TL fluently. 7. Students aske asked to describe an event they went to, using the TL. 8. T send students to the BORs. 9. T conducts Feedback and DEC.
