Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In the lead-in section I will open the class by sharing one of the most important and traditional celebrations in my country (Day of the Death) and then I will follow up the next question: Which celebrations are most popular in your country? I am going to hear their answers by doing OCFB

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In the expousure stage I am going to play an audio related to the context and when they finish of listening to it I will ask the Ss to try to say the main idea of the audio, (what was it about? and the principal idea). This is going to be an OCFB to check everybody's answers.

Highlighting (0-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this part I am going to provide my Ss the texts which they listened in the previous audio but with the answers already and in bolded. I will elicit what the bolded words are called and why are they used for.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In the clarification stage I will provide the correct use of the relative pronouns, the difference between non-defining and defining clauses. I will elicit some examples to the students so they can have a better clarification and understanding. MEANING: (some examples) Children’s Day on May 5th, WHICH IS TO BE known as “Boys Day”,is the day when japanies families wish their children happiness Families gather to remembers relatives WHO HAVE DIED and have a special picnic by their gravesides In Korea, WHERE THE DAY has only been a holiday since 1974, there are parades and special excursions FORM: NON-DEFINING RELATIVE CLAUSES: Give us extra information, it is NOT necessary which thing or person we are talking about. WE USE COMMAS DEFININING RELATIVE CLAUSES: It is necessary to know which thing or person we are talking about (Indefinite) WE DO NOT USE COMMAS PRONUNCIATION: I will elicit the words by making a Choral Repetition (drilling) so Ss can practice and explain them the intonation of the commas

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will provide a link for my Ss so they can go to google forms and practice what they have learned. They are going to do this activity individually, then go to BOR's and I will conduct OCFB to check and give feedback. They will have 5 min to answer, 3 to check with a partner and then OCFB

Free Practice (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

For this final part Ss are going to break up rooms and share the following question: How many answers are the same? Give your opinion! They will have 5 min to do this in teams, then they will go back to the main session in order to reciev feedback and DEC
