Procedure (36-47 minutes)
1. T wamly welcomes and greets students. 2. T will project a PPT with the question: Do you think IQ tests are useful? 1. Students will have 30 seconds to prepare their answers. T will ask them to raise their hand if they have the answer. 3. T conducts OCFB.
2. T sets gist task (appendix 1 ). 3. T gives instructions: "You will have 2 minutes to read this text. You are reading to gain a general idea of the text? Look for keywords/of phrases to understand what Mensa is about." CCQ: Guys, is carefull reading needed for this task? 4. Students read the Mensa text. 5. Then, T conducts OCFB: "Put your hands up if you would like to join Mensa." 6. T elicits a few reasons for and against from studnets
7. T elicit / highlight the TL in the text. 8. T shares her screen: "The society was founded in 1946 by Roland Berrill..." 9. T asks students, 'What do we call this structure?' 10. After eliciting answers from students, T briefly explains what passive voice is about.
11. T covers Meaning, Form and Pronunciation of the language using ‘Analysis 1’ on p.44 to help + read page 147 A + B to understand the language better. (on Google Slides or Forms)
