Description

in this lesson, students learn about what is Gerund and how to use it based on a text about what happiness is...the lesson starts with a discussion about happiness. then the teacher teaches how and when we use Gerund (mfp). students read a text from American English Files lesson 7B and find Gerunds in a text and tell what kind of Gerund is that. Finally students share what makes them Happy (using gerund) in a class.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the teacher talks about her Family's Plan for going abroad and its advantages and disadvantages. She wants Students to talk about whats their idea, is it worth or not.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

While Students talk about the advantages and disadvantages of going abroad, teacher listen at first, and at the end she corrects all students by using Gerund in the right place.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

in this stage, the teacher teaches what are Gerund, its Form, and the way we use it by mentioned material. (is it a noun or a verb? Can be a subject oran abject..?) how do we pronounce it?

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

in this stage, the teacher asks each student to read the article in American English Files 2 page 54 carefully and then answer how many Gerund they have found. and mention what kind of gerunds are, then the teacher checks the answer with the whole class

Free Practice (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

in this stage the teacher wants students to talk about do they want to go abroad, and what activities they find more exciting to do there( by using Gerund).
