Description

In this lesson students will describe their favorite rooms after listening to a conversation between two people describing their favorite room . Students will learn to listen for gist, specific information and for details.Then they will produce what they listened to and what they learned in their groups as a speaking task.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

context was already set at the previous session.

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will teach the students the meaning of flatmate as I find it the only blocker for them in the audio track. Then I will check that that the students know the names of the different rooms by giving them pictures of the different rooms at home.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will Play the recording for students to listen for general meaning and identify which rooms Jim shows Ruth. Check answers with students then show them the answers. Answers b the living room d the bedroom Next, Students listen to the recording again for specific details and write down the furniture they talk about in each room. Students compare in pairs. Check answers as a class on the slides. Answers Room 1: armchair, mirror Room 2: wardrobe, bed

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In his stage , I will ask students to work in pairs or groups to speak about their favorite rooms and describe them, I will accept all answers not interrupting their fluency but I will help and guide them first by giving them prompts to help them do the same in their conversation.
