To provide vocabulary for students to be able to start writing short stories
Procedure (41-55 minutes)
-T shares first screen -T ask ss what is happening in the picture -T calls on 2-3 SS to answer questions
-T shares screen with students with story -T gives instructions and gives students two minutes to answer questions by themselves. -T goes over questions with students
-T share screen with meaning activity -T goes through the first instruction with students "What phrase do we use to start a story"? -T ask students is a phrase a group of words or just one word? -T tells students they will have 2 minutes to answer questions in breakout rooms -T brings students back and goes over questions.
-T shows screen with instructions to controlled activity -T tells students it is their team to write a story -T tells students they can choose on topic from the three writing prompts -T ask ss if they should choose one topic or two for their short story. -T then tells students that we will be brainstorming vocab for the story -T shows some examples of the vocab -T ask students what could possibly be some vocab. -T tells students they will now write their own short story -T shows ss how to access their part writing the paper -T tells students they will have 15-20 minutes on writing assignment depending on pace of class -T observes students while writing sending personal messages if they see the students are having trouble starting. (ex. you can start by saying. In the beginning the superhero was very strong)
-T tells students which ones will be paired together -T shares writing prompt on all the papers -T shows how they should correct the paper -T sends the students into breakout rooms for 5 minutes to read each others stories -T returns the SS and if more time changes students partners or goes over a story with the class -If T recognizes an error being used over and over again T goes through it with class
