Comparatives and Superlatives
Advanced level
Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
To introduce and revise patterns with comparative and superlatives
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide practice of comparatives and superlatives, and to teach how to use them correctly
Procedure (40-59 minutes)
I will show a couple of photos of people exercising and playing various sports and ask them who likes to exercise and what type of exercise they normally do.
I will play an audio clip from the student handbook that will contain someone speaking of their exercising habits that will contain comparatives and superlatives in it. The students will have a quiz to complete while listening to the clip, identifying the different comparatives and superlatives during it.
I will use various examples from the audio clip to help me explain how we use comparatives and superlatives, when we use them and how we pronounce them.
I will give the students a quiz in which they will have to choose the proper comparative or superlative that was used in the audio clip. I will have the students discuss the quiz in break out rooms and then we will go over the quiz as a class, having each student say a different question/answer.
I will open the floor to have the students ask any questions regarding when or how to use comparatives and superlatives
