Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of tourism

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about plan a tour in the context of tourism

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T Show ss some pictures of different landmarks and ask them which one would Ss like to visit Why? T assigns them to discuss with a partner and then feedback

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Elaine recommends for Marco four places in Australia to visit. T assigns Ss. to listen ( for gist) to audio, number the cities, and say how long Marco would stay in each one. next, T assigns Ss. to listen again for details to mention in which places Elain mentions these activities e.g. bars , restaurants, etc.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T assigns Ss. to group function language horizontally into a group of making recommendations and describing places. Peer Check then feedback. T clarifies the useful language according to MPF. T elicits the meaning of language functions and then model and drill them focusing on form and pronunciation features.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss. spends ten to fifteen minutes planning how to describe a tour. Decide on the following things: How long the tour will be .and How many days will be spent in every place . The best way to travel from one place to another. The main things to see in each place and why they are interesting.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T listens to the Ss. without immediate correction.T corrects the content and language on board.
