Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Jobs in the context of Building up a New Factory

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will start talking about her previous job at a factory, her position there and why she resigned. She will engage the students asking them about what they think her position was there and how long she worked in that position.

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will show my students some pictures of different people working in a factory and I will ask them weather they know what the jobs are or not. I will give them the new words if they can not find it themselves.

While-Reading #1 (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will ask the students to read a text about Jenny who has just got a job in a factory. I want them to tell me what her position is there. I will check the answer with the who class.

While-Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students are going to read the text deeply and answer the True/ False questions given. The will check in pairs first and then with the whole class.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will ask the students weather they have been to any factories and what jobs people had. Do they want to work in a company and what their favorite position is. Are they planning to build a factory in the future and if yes, what production would they work on.
