In this session, the students will continue learning about clothes that can be used according to the weather, adding that the student can form sentences with the help of these words.

Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation and participation in the context of The weather

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Involve students by asking them what is the weather you like the most? With what type of garments, according to the top, do you feel most comfortable? Listen to the participation of the students

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Read to the students a brief story about a person who goes on vacation to a place, tells us about the weather and the type of clothing that is usually used, in this reading they will highlight the key words that have been used in the first sessions on this topic.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

They will be given a copy of a weather report, there will be blank spaces where the student must complete them. For this activity a video of a meteorologist will be used and they should listen carefully to the words that will be used.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

They will be given a reading about a conversation between two people talking about how the weather is in the city where they live and what kind of clothing people wear. For this activity the students must listen to the conversation and follow the reading, at the end they will be presented with questions that they must answer according to the above

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

They will write down questions in their notebook according to the videos and audios they listened to and the readings they read: What climates were presented in the first video? What clothes did they mention? What was the weather like in the first person of the second audio?
