Write about my emotions
A1 level

Description

In this lesson the students will express how they felt in certain situations. At the beginning of the lesson the students will remember the 7 emotions studied previously to name anecdotes where they had that emotion. Then the children will write the anecdote in such a way that their classmates guess the predominant emotion in it to finally make a game of enough emotions.

Materials

Abc Notebook
Abc template of the text to produce
Abc text of a trip

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a anecdote of emotions

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a anecdote

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students about a moment where they had a specific emotion, for example a moment where they got very angry. Allow them to briefly tell their classmates about it so they can give details about it.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

Submit a text where an anecdote of a trip is narrated. Analyze with the students the characteristics of the text: place, time, sequence, people involved and the emotions that the trip provoked. Mark these characteristics in the texts.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Present sentences that students can use to establish their anecdote: When I was traveling in... When she was little ... Last month she was in... At school last week it happened to me that... Remind students of vocabularies they have from past classes of places and people. Post a template of the text they will create.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Divide the students into teams of 4 members each team. Ask each team to choose one of the situations on the board. Remember that you have the template to draw on for your text. Allow them to write a draft of the text.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Ask students to read the text they wrote. Ask questions, if necessary, about the information provided in the text. Analyze the texts for correction. Ask final questions about your feelings regarding these classes.
