Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a ( could, couldn't , had to, didn't have to ) in the context of Modern medicine
Procedure (35-51 minutes)
Student's will be given a small test to see how well they Understand the TL followed by peer-check FB then WC FB basing on the results of this test the lesson's stages given time will be modified
clarifying the meaning, form and Pronunciation, however, if the students do well in the exam we'll just run through meaning and for quickly, and work on pronunciation more IF necessary Our marker sentences will be ( They Had to open it- he could see the bones-they put a warning)
Turkish students tend to make mistakes with the form especially if the TL is in the past tense, even if they completely understand the form. students will be given a HO of a controlled exercise to check their understanding of the form and help them practice it. *** if the clarification stage took some time assuming the students will have problems with the meaning and form, this stage will be skipped***
Students will be give a HO with 8 pictures and 8 words which they will have to match individually and then check their answers with their partners (this exercise will allow them to review some of the vocabulary they've learned the lsson before) then student will be given an example sentence (e.g. before they invented wheeled beds, nurses had to carry patients from one place to another) and ask students to use this modal sentence to talk to their partners about the 8 inventions in the exercise given to them before given some error correction FB
*** this stage will be cut short or stretched depending on the time we have left *** in this stage, students will be asked to agree on a list of 5 of the most important inventions in the world with their partner, then pairs will be asked to agree on 5 out of 10 .... etc. followed by FB ( students justifying their choices and then error correction
