A1 level

Description

In this lesson, students will listen to different stories. The lesson begins by listening to a short story in which students have to talk about the topic of the story they heard as a group. Then we will listen to another story which should be brief and based on this an activity will be answered in which we will point out the characteristics of the character heard in the story. As a second activity, students will listen to a longer story. On this occasion, the students, in addition to attaching the characteristics, must also write some of them. Finally, the activity ends with a last story in which you must complete the missing words according to what you heard in the story. The objective of this lesson is to work on comprehension.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information to a character

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Start the class by asking students about their favorite story to create a group conversation. Ask five students to participate so that they can tell what the main character of their favorite story was like, speaking physically and emotionally.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Listen to a short story in a group. Discuss as a group what the story we heard earlier was about.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Indicate to the students that we will listen to a short story to decipher the character. Assign the students the activity entitled "What is the character like?", which consists of having the students circle the characteristics of the characters according to what they hear in the story. Start the activity by asking students to pay close attention. Repeat the story as many times as necessary. Compare the answers as a group at the end of the activity.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Indicate to the students that we will listen to a longer story this time, assign the students the second part of the activity which consists of the students enclosing the characteristics of the characters but there will also be spaces where they will have to write the missing word , so this time we will also work on writing. Start the activity by asking students to pay close attention to the story. Repeat the story as many times as necessary to complete the activity. Compare the answers as a group.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Listen to one last short story. Assign the students the third part of the activity, which consists of the students only having to write the missing words in the text. Repeat the story as many times as necessary to complete the activity. Share the answers obtained as a group. Correct in case of errors.
