Description

In this lesson, students will learn the names of jobs and occupations. The lesson starts with a trigger question: what jobs do you know? This is followed by some trades and occupations will be explained to the students with the help of images as support. Finally, they identify what job or occupation each member of their family has.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce students through interspersed questions to the context "Jobs and occupations", use the support of images: What trades do you know? What do your relatives do: mom, dad, brothers, uncles, etc... You work? What do you do for a living?

Exposure (6-8 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases. Write on the board some jobs and occupations that the students mentioned in the previous activity. For example: lawyer, dentist, engineer, lawyer, nurse, doctor, teacher, cashier, driver, firefighter, policeman, soccer player, secretary, manager, operator, housekeeper, student, etc...

Task (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Read the occupations and jobs written on the board loud and clear, then the students repeat after me and finally they will say it out loud on their own.

Planning (6-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

Give the instructions to carry out the first activity: The students will choose 2 jobs and occupations that are written on the board, they will write it in their notebook and make a drawing of each of them.

Report (10-15 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

With the random participation of the students, they will come to the front and show and read what they did in their notebook, helping you in the process.

Language Analysis (2-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Explain to the students the second activity to carry out: Choose two members of your family, with their name and what member of the family they are (they can be guided by the previous work on the names of the family), highlighting their work or occupation. Give an example: My mother is Paulina and she is a housewife. Clearly explain the pronunciations.

Language Practice (11-15 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

The students will read and show their work done with the help of the teacher and correcting the pronunciation.
