Procedure (34-50 minutes)
Greet the students, write the date on the board and ask them to say it out loud. Inform that the English class is about to start. Play the students a song that talks about the solar system. Try to make it educational, catchy and playful.
Project on the board a brief reading of the solar system. Ask students to scan the reading for words that sound familiar to them and are related to the solar system. Ask several students to come by and point to one of these words and say that it is what they think it is.
Ask students which words they do not understand or which words they cannot pronounce. Read the text aloud to the students, so they can understand the pronunciation. Stop more specifically on the words that were most difficult.
Give each student a printed material where they will have to use the vocabulary they learned in class. Help students write the words they have to use on the board. Allow time for its preparation. Carry out a self-assessment answering the activity on the blackboard.
Ask students to write a simple sentence using a word from the vocabulary learned, for example: "Mercury is the first planet in the solar system."
