Description

In this lesson, the expected learning is for the student to identify the letters of the alphabet as well as some animals that begin with the letter of the alphabet.

Procedure

alphabet song (5-10 minutes) • For students to pronounce and identify the letters of the alphabet from the letter A-z

-Give a warm greeting to the students and ask how they feel today. -Connect the projector and present the song of the alphabet so that they repeat the letters and listen to the pronunciation. -Ask the students to listen to the song and repeat the song, as well as the letters that appear there.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Show the students the presentation of the alphabet, ask them to observe the letter and how it is pronounced so that they repeat it.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Show the student the animal flashcards so they can identify the first letter it starts with, in order to introduce the correct spelling.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Show the students the flashcards of the animals and tell them the meaning of each animal.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Use the number wheel to get the participation of the students and indicate that upon hearing their list number, the teacher will tell them a letter of the alphabet and they must mention an animal that begins with that letter.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The teacher will form teams of 2 and pass 1 member per team to the blackboard. The teacher will indicate a letter of the alphabet to one of them and the student must draw an animal that begins with that letter. The students must guess what animal it is and go on to write the name correctly. The first team to get 3 points wins.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Write down a list of animals on the blackboard and ask the students to draw the animal in their notebooks, the first letter with which it begins and the Spanish translation of the animal.
