To provide scan reading practice using a text about personal profile in the context of likes and interests
Procedure (38-51 minutes)
-Tell Ss to imagine that they will make a Facebook profile. -Ask them : What will you write on your profile? -Ss discuss the question in pairs. -Ss report back to the teacher
-Tell Ss they will read a personal profile for "Jamie Hamilton." -They need to answer the following questions: Do you have similar interests? -Give Ss 2 mins to read individually -Ss discuss the answer in pairs. -Class feedback
-Explain the task -Ask Ss to make a list of other interests and likes. - Give them 3 mins to think -They share in groups of 3 - Ss report to the teacher. -T highlights some of the good points
-Explain the task -Tell Ss that they are going to write their personal profile now. -Give them 10 mins to write -Ask ICQS - Are we writing an email or personal profile? -How many minutes do we have?
-Divide the class into pairs Ask Ss to send their writing to their partners. -Ask Ss to read their partner's profile and answer the questions: Do you have similar interests? -Give them 3 mins to read -Ss share their thoughts. -T checks the writing of the Ss on WhatsApp and takes notes. -T shares his feedback using the board.
