In this lesson ss will be able to write a website review of 120-150 words and identify the parts of a review.

Main Aims

  • To provide product and process writing practice of a review in the context of websites.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a review in the context of websites identifying relevant parts of a review.
  • To provide review and practice of relative pronouns and relative clauses in the context of a website review.
  • To provide practice for using conjunctions in the context of writing a review to sound more fluent.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will share a google slide with a quick restaurant review. Ask ss to read the restaurant review and discuss the following the questions: 1. Is this a good or bad review? How do you know? 2. Would you visit this restaurant?

Exposure (10-12 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Share a google form with Ss and ask them to read the questions first then read the text. Tell ss they will respond the questions after they read the text. Once ss has submitted form provide immediate FB.

Useful Language (12-17 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Useful language 1: Share slide with ss and ask them to identify three phrases used to recommend the site: 1. One reason I´d recommend it is... 2. The best thing about megaprtal.com is... 3. Another excellent feature is... Useful language 2: Fluency Ss will compare sentences in activity 10 A and decide which one sounds more fluent. Provide hidden tip after discussing the differences in the sentences. Useful language 3: Fluency Ss will rewrite sentences 1-4 activity 10 B to make them sound more fluent.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Share slide with instructions for writing task. Give ss time to write down some ideas and then share writing template. Play relaxing music for writing.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Provide feedback on writing task and DEC.
