Reading for Gist and Specific Details: Elicit different kinds of drinks.
Procedure (29-45 minutes)
I will put a Picture about drinks on the board and ask them what they see. Then I will tell them my favourite drink and ask what their favourite drink is ?
The teachers shows 8 drinks to his ss. The teacher divides the class into 4 groups. Then the teacher gives each group 2 words. They have to try to guess their meaning and stick the words on the drinks. Then teacher shows 6 new objects to the class. This time he divides the class into 3. Now they are supposed to do the same with the new words.
T gives the ss a handout. In pairs students are supposed to discuss about the activity and find the correct phrases in the box. To check understanding I will ask questions by using the objects again. Is ''a mug of cola'' right or wrong ?
T gives the students a worksheet. In pairs students have to answer each other's questions.
Teacher will give examples using his photo and 2 photos of celebrities. Then he will show the pictures about the people mentioned in the text to prapare the students for the text.
Students are given worksheets. On the worksheets there are 5 information. They have to find to whom that information belongs to by skimming the text in 1 minute. In pairs they have to try to answer the questions correctly.
Students are given a worksheet. The students try to fill in the gaps after reading the text again (in detail.)
The teacher will give an example from the text where the infinitive ''to'' is used and where it is not used. Teacher will ask the ss about the difference.
Teacher gives the ss another worksheet. They have to fill in the gaps. They have to guess where they have to put ''to'' and where they mustn't.
On the WB, the teacher explains where, when and why we use the infinitive ''to''
In pairs students talk about the difference between the Turkish and the British Tea. Then they ask different pairs about their opinion.
