To provide oral fluency in the context of fear and phobias.
Procedure (40 minutes)
T shows Ss pictures of people afraid of different things Instruction: what can you see? T elicits the word " phobia" T asks Ss : what are your phobias? WCFB
-T provides the student with a vocabulary matching task. Ss work in pairs check their answers. -fast finishers write the answers on the board. WCFB -T drills the words.
T provides Ss with task b page 70 Instruction: in pairs look at the names of 5 phobias Match them to the explantions A-E 1ICQ: How many phobias? 2ICQ: are you workin alone or in pairs? Instruction: check your answers with the person on your right. Answer key: 1-D/2-B/3-E/4-C/5-A. WCFD T marks the stress on the board and drills the names of phobias
T provides the Ss with task c p 70 Instruction: In pairs, read the explanations again and find in the texts : 1- the noun made from the adjective afraid (fear in E) 2- one adjective which means very afraid( frightened in A) 3- two synonyms for afraid( frightened in b/ scared in d) pair check Studenst write the answers on the board WCFD

T provide Ss with texts about famous people and their phobias. some of them are true and some are false. Ss tell each other about them and decide which they think are true. Instruction: read the text and tell your friend about it. WCFB T gives the answer key. T asks the student what advice they could give them to overcome their phobias? T asks the students the flowing questions: 1 - which of the phobias in this lesson is the most irrational? 2- Which do you think makes the sufferers lives most complicated? Do you or anyone you know have a phobia? When and how did it start? how does it affect your or his lives? What advice can you give him to get better? Students work in pairs,then stand up and look for another partner to talk with.
