Description

In this lesson, students learn how to use present perfect sentences to discuss about past events or activities that continue in the present or may be done in the future again. At first , teacher asks some questions about free time and hobbies but then he sets the main context on traveling .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts talking about his friends and what they've been doing recently . Then he shares an opinion of one of his friends about traveling . He uses present perfect sentences while he is talking about his friend's idea .

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The teacher asks the students about traveling and where they have traveled to . He uses present perfect form of questions and students may not be able to answer in present perfect form . The teacher should not react at that exact moment .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher selects one of his students' sentences and write it on the board . The selected sentence must be in the correct form of present perfect and also its important to select easy and understandable sentence in case of being easier for students to understand properly .

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher must mention the correct form, meaning and pronunciation of the target language (present perfect) with the help of students.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The teacher gives the students some questions that should be answered by them . The students may be wrong so the teacher must first let the other students to correct it and if they couldn't , he answers them himself . The questions are some empty boxes in the middle of the sentences that should be filled with the correct words (contains present perfect and past simple verbs) .

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher divide students in groups of 2 and monitor them while they're talking about traveling (where have they traveled to and where they want to travel to , etc ...) . And at the end of the class the Teacher must give them feedback if needed .
