Materials
Main Aims
-
The main aim of this lesson is listening which is going to be a good preparation for the next lesson. The students are going to listen to the news that it will take their interest a lot as they are adults and they usually watch the news.
Subsidiary Aims
-
There are two sub aims which are speaking and vocabulary. At the beginning of the lesson, they will discuss, so that they will get into the context easily and quickly. They need to be familiar with some words before listening so they will do some vocabulary revision.
Procedure (36-45 minutes)
I will start the lesson by setting the students into groups. Then I will ask for a volunteer from the groups. I will give pictures to the volunteers and they will use his/ her body language to describe what he/she sees in the picture. The students will say the word loud. After that I will stick the pictures on the WB. I will point out on TV, and ask "Who watched TV yesterday evening?" Then I will ask them to brainstorm, they will think about things they usually watch on TV.
As the Ss had a brainstorming on my question ( What do you usually watch on Tv?)I will write their ideas on the WB. After that they will discuss the questions in activity 1 in groups. Then I will elicit the possible answers for the questions from the students.
I will put some important words on the board, these words will help the students understand the listening activity better. Then I will put four pictures taken from the news. The students will match the pictures and the words related to them on the WB. Then I will explain the words with examples to clarify the meaning of the word.
I will give the Ss a handout including the pictures on the WB. They will listen and put the pictures in order then I will elicit the correct order of the news from the groups. After that the students will listen the recording agin for the next activity, they will choose the correct answer, then they will peer check their answers. After peer check I will elicit the correct answers from the students.
After the listening activity, I will ask them to work in pairs to set a speaking. They will speak about the news they've watched yesterday or news that was very interesting to him/her in the past.
