Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • -By the end of the lesson, the SS will have been practiced on how to read for details in the context of "sleeping".
  • -By the end of the lesson, the SS will have been practiced speaking for fluency in the context of "sleeping" .

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Welcoming the SS and T asks them to share positive vibes. (3m) -Showing the questions on the screen, T asks student to discuss these questions:- 1- Divide SS into couples. 2- Modeling. 3- T asks SS to find something in common or interesting. (to pay attention to each other) 4- Giving the SS (3m). ICQS:- -Are you going to talk only or find something in common? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (finished) -T nominates SS to share answers.

Pre-reading (6-8 minutes) • To make the context easier on the SS and make them reach the highest grade of the understanding for the context.

-Smooth transition, (Now we're going to read an article about, Which is healthier, short sleeper Or long sleeper, But before we start reading let's know some new words). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PTV. -Showing on the screen the 1st 2 picture, and asking the SS to guess the word.(dental surgery) CCQS:- 1- Is it a surgery in the body or the mouth. -Drill the word. -Write it, if needed. - Showing the word on the screen, Ask a S to read the example. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Showing the 2nd 2 pictures, asking the SS to guess the word. (invention) CCQS:- 1- Is it something made by a human. 2- Is it something new or repeated at that time. -Drill the word. -Write it, if needed. - Showing the word on the screen, Ask a S to read the example. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While reading #1 (4-5 minutes) • Reading for specific answer for the gist question

Smooth transition.( Now its reading time, about which is healthier) Instructions:- -T tells the SS read quickly and answer this question alone. -T shows the gist task on the screen. -T says you have (2m). ICQS:- 1-Are you going to read for details or quickly. -T sends the article on the group. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (finished) -T asks the SS to check in pairs. (1m) -T start nominating SS to share answers. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While reading #2 (7-8 minutes) • Reading for detailed question to improve their reading skill.

Smooth transition. (You read quickly last time, now we're going to read again but focus on details to answer these questions). -T shows the T or F questions. -T gives the SS (1m) to read the sentences. -T tells the SS you have (5m) to read and answer. -Modeling, T says lets answer the first one together, nominate S to read the question, nominate another S to read the first sentence of the article, telling the answer. -T says do the rest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (finished) -T asks the SS to check in pairs. -T sends the answer key on the group. -T asks if anyone have a problem.

Free practice and Content feedback (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

Smooth transition. (Now its speaking time). -T shows the questions on the screen. -Modeling. -T asks the SS to stand up. -T gives them (8m). -Monitoring. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (finished) -T praise the SS for their effort. -T nominate SS to give content feedback. -T gives the language feedback. 1-T divide the SS as same partners. 2-T asks them to solve these mistakes together. 3-Write the mistakes on the WB. -T nominates for answers.
