Procedure (45-59 minutes)
Greet students. Ask some questions: Do you like technology? Which technological device(s) do you use most? Who doesn't like technology but use it? Do you know how to use them? Is it easy to use them?
Set the context (using a computer). Make students to think about the steps we follow before, while and after using a computer. Give the students a worksheet on which there are 6 pictures showing the steps of using a computer. Students set them in order. Then in pairs, they check the answers. Show the same pictures on WB and try to elicit the correct order and the phrasel verbs also other 2 pictures related to computer. Write the phrasel verbs under the pictures, model and drill.
Ask students what kind of verbs they are and try to elicit the word 'phrasel verbs' and write it on WB. Show the grammatical structure of phrasel verbs on the WB.
Students see the rules for phrasel verbs on the WB. In pairs, they discuss the rules and try to find examples for them. Before that, remind them what an object and pronoun is. Stick 3 more pictures on WB. In total, students will see 11-12 pictures on the WB. When the teacher shows a pictures, students say phrasel verb as WC. During the activity, study MFP.
Students work in pairs and they will complete a chart. They will see verbs in the box and they will place the verbs in the correct column to make up phrasel verbs. When it finishes, students come to the board and complete the chart. Then, students do an exercise in the coursebook, they'll tick the sentences that are correct. Students work in pairs again and discuss why the sentences are correct or wrong.
In this stage, students do the exercises 2 and 3 in the coursebook. In the first exercise, students circle the object of the phrasel verb in the sentences (sometimes there is no object). Use ICQs to check if the students have got what they'll do and show an example. To check the answers students use the WB and circle the objects. Then, students look at the sentences again. This time, they will replace the object(if there is) with a pronoun. Do the first one as an example. Students can work in pairs.
Students work in pairs and the teacher gives every pair of students 3-4 phrasel verbs. Students must use them in a conversation. They come up with a dialogue. Then students act it out in front of the classroom.
