Procedure (37-47 minutes)
I will use a video /game to activate and test students existing knowledge around facial features and their purpose. It will also serve to engage all students in the lesson in a positive and encouraging way.
In this part of the lesson, we will focus on the pronunciation of the different facial features, and also what they use those features for , and finally see if we can get some thoughts on the facial feature that is the most important and how life would be if they did not have full use of a particular feature.
This stage will focus upon the benefits of having each feature, and how each feature helps us to live happy and productive lives. Which features are most important.
1st Activity, choosing a face from Page 85 of Student Book and describing it to your partner . 2nd Activity ( time allowing) will be a short project activity, where students are required to 'make a face' by cutting out, gluing and labelling facial features on a boys or girls face. Then in pairs they will be asked to describe the face they have created to their partner. ICQ's will be used throughout this part of the procedure to try to ensure student understanding.
Teacher will circulate the classroom, and when it is noticed that a pair have finished, the teacher will ask the student to describe the face they have created, The teacher will also ask some questions, such as ' is the hair long or short?' 'What does a particular facial feature help us to do ?'
