Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be presented with the first slide on the power point aid and they will answer the following question. Do you have an extended family or a small family? Do you like big families or small families? Some answers will be elicited from the students. Then they will be guided to open their books to page 8 on their books. They will be answering questions 1 and 2 in pairs.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students will be asked to close their books. Vocabulary game on slide two will be shown. Students will be grouped. One student from each group will stand in front of the board at the first part. The teacher will read the words. Students will try to find the meaning as soon as possible. The successful student is the one who pots his/her hand on the right answer before the others. Teacher will give on positive on the board to the successful group in each time. The students will change with the next person in their group after some questions. This will go on until all students get a chance to answer.(9 minutes) Then they will be directed to write their answers in their books.(1 minute)

While-Reading #1 (7-8 minutes) • To help students to learn scanning skills for IELTS reading.

The students will get only 2 minutes to find the words in part 4 in the passage. Extra time up to 1 minute will be given to have everybody find those words. The students will check their answers with a student sitting next to them.(1 minute) Different type of key words and key word table will be explained.(2 minutes) The students will move on to question part 5. They will be asked to find the key words on those questions.(1 minute) Teacher will highlight the key words in the questions on the slide. (1 minute)

While-Reading/Listening #2 (19 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

The students will be directed to find the underlined key words on question in part 5 in the text in 2 minutes. Their answers will be compaired with a partner. They will get 4 minutes to answer all the questions in part 5. Their answers will be checked in the class in 2 minutes. Slide 3 will be shown: Teacher and students will discuss how could they find the answers so fast? (2 minutes) The method to answer short answer questions will be elicited from the students.(1 minute) Slide 4 will be shown The following sentence will be on the board: It is easier to find the answers for short answer questions in the text, if we search for the questions' key words in the text. The students will be directed to answer the questions in part 7 with the same method. (5 minutes) The students will do a pair work to check their answers in 2 minutes. The correct answers will be presented on the next slide. The students will have 1 minute to check their answers.

Reading 2 (6 minutes) • to practice short answer questions of IELTS even more

the students will high light the key words of the second text y them selves and they will answer all the questions in 5 minutes. the answers will be provided for them after a one minute pair work activity.

Grammar (21 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

They will check the text again and try to answer questions in part 9 In 2 minutes. Slide will change to show a b c on part 9 is the place we use simple present tense. The structure of simple present sentences will be on the next slide as well. The students will write an example for each in a group in 3 minutes. For the next question next slide will show adverbs of frequency in example sentences. The students will be asked to do exercise 10. In 1 minute. Then they will speak about the positions of the adverbs in part 11 as a class in 1 minute. Teacher will provide them with more knowledge about 《sometimes》. The structure of adverbs of frequency in simple present tense will be on the slide. And each student will write one example down in 1 minute. The students will be asked to do the next passages questions in 10 minutes. As their final task. Then the work sheets will be given to the students along with the question classification handout. And the handout will be explained In 3 minutes. Then the students will work on the work sheets using the question classification handout and key word table hand out.
