Procedure (45-59 minutes)
I will play a short video on the five senses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXXiyIGqliE I will show the students the sense puppets while the song is playing.
I will go through each of the Power Point slides to showcase each sense and what body part is used for that sense. I will also show students where on their body they can find these parts.
I will ask the students if they know where are their body parts that are used for each sense, such as where are your eyes? and I will let them know that our eyes let us see. I will ask students to point to their nose and ask if they know what they use their nose for? Where is your tongue and ask the students what their tongue is used for? and so one with each sense that corresponds to each specific body part.
According to the stages above, my students now know the meaning, I will just correct their pronunciation by repetition.
I will have a poster of Mr. Potato Head and ask the students where does each body part go and what is that body part used for? Such as ears are used for hearing etc.
Teacher will play Simon Says, where students can familiarize themselves with their body parts and senses, that are discussed in this lesson. For example: the teacher says Simon says touch your ears so you can hear, touch your nose so you can smell and so forth.
Teacher will hand out worksheet, where students will match the senses to the pictures. For early finishers, the teacher will hand out a worksheet where students can color, cut out and sort the senses with the matching pictures.
