Main Aims

To give Ss the opportunity to practice speaking fluency in the context of making, accepting, or politely refusing suggestions for preparation for an important meeting or presentation.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To practice reading for gist in the context of a dialogue in which one classmate gives another suggestions to prepare for a class presentation.
Procedure (39-46 minutes)
Show Lead-in photo Ask students to look at the picture and think about the following questions: "What is happening here? What happened the day before?" T conducts OCFB
--Presentation of context-- Show text Ask students to read the text: "While reading, try to identify the characters. Who is giving a recital, and who is giving suggestions?" 2 minutes for reading Highlight "Why don't you?" CCQ: "Is this a suggestion or giving an imperative?" Answer: "A suggestion" Highlight "That's a good idea, but" CCQ "Does she accept, or decline" Answer: decline Highlight "That's a great idea!" CCQ "Does she accept?" Answer: yes --GD for Meaning-- Send the gist quiz to Ss I: "Please check the chatbox and open the form" ICQ "Do you have the form?"
