They will learn some new verbs with which to speak about routines of other people.
Procedure (35-45 minutes)
Teacher stands in the class holding a ball in hand. He says a sentence and throws the ball at a particular student. He or she is expected to say the same sentence about him or herself regarding information like name, age, nationality, job and where they live.
-The T writes on the board "my brother" and gives students some facts about his life through elicitation. He then writes some model sentences and presents the grammar regarding 3rd person singular s on the board including the negative form. My brother (Jack) studies IT. CCQs: Does he study now? yes Does he go to university every week? yes Is his university finished? no Jack teachers tennis. CCQs: Is it his job? yes Does he teach tennis now? yes
The T gives Ss handouts regarding 3rd person singular grammar and asks them to do it in pairs and then gets feed back. The T then plays the audio script and gives Ss drills.
The T teacher gives Ss a list of verbs in exercise 6 and draws 3 pronunciation categories on the whiteboard. He then asks Ss to work in pairs and put the verb where it belongs by writing the verbs in the correct column. The teacher drills.
T gives Ss another handout and asks them to complete it individually and then check their answers in pairs. ICQs: 1. alone or together? alone 2. Do we check the answers together? yes T then writes the answers on the whiteboard.
Ss are asked to speak about their best friend or a family member to their peers and describe their routines. T monitors them and possibly writes down a couple of errors they make and notifies them afterwards. The teacher may get feedback via a couple of Ss.
