In this lesson Ss will practice listening task.To prepare Ss with the concept of listening I'll start talking about virtual friends and how do we respond to their invitation.Next I'll show some pics to highlight some important words related to the listening.Then I'll ask a question about this website as the gist and Ss will discuss it. I'll play first part of listening and we will talk about the right answer. I'll show the next practice and ask them to read it quickly.They will listen to the second part and I'll check the answer with Ss. To cover free practice they will discuss about earning money by using this website

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, detailed, deduction and specific information listening practice using a text about couchsurfing.org in the context of travel

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a discussion in the context of travel and making friends and couchsurfing.org

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I'll start with a question about pen palls and invitation .The answers may be short or long base on their experiences.

Pre-teach essential lexis (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through some pictures

As the audio script doesn't have many new worlds I'll just focus on three words which are more related to the context.( host,guest,couch). I'll get more information about the word couch.

Gist task (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I'll show Ss a picture of couchsurfing website and ask them about what they know or guess about it.

Listening (The first part) (3-4 minutes) • To privide information about gist task

Ss will listen to a part of radio travel program to get some information about couchsurfing. Then they will discuss how couchsurfing works.If they are needed audio track will be played again( I'll skip last part in demo)

Scaning (1-2 minutes) • To prepare students for the next listeting part

Ss will read the practice C to be prepared for the speaker's details about couchfurfing.

Listening (The second part) (4-5 minutes) • To prepare Ss with answering the practice

Ss will listen to the second part of listening. they will get more details and be prepared to answer practice C. Then they will mark the sentences T or F individually .They will check the answers in pair. I'll check the answers with whole class to get feedback. The scrips will be used if they still need more understanding. I' ll play the second part again to ask some more details(I skip this part for demo)

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage Ss will discuss about the ways they can earn money by this website. Even they will bring pros and cons to the subject/
