in this session students will learn about the documentaries, sports coverage crime mysteries, travel news, reality show, phone ins, cartoons, national news, game shows and quizzes, local news, soap operas, sit comes and adverts. students will listen to each type of these and know how to categorizing each one. will learn new word through the listening like buzzer. and they will their experience about listening to radio and which channel on Tv they used to watch.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, detailed, inference and specific information listening practice using a text about five short extract from different types of radio or TV programme or both in the context of phone -ins on radio. adverts both on radio and TV.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of radio and TV programs in the context of documentaries ,sports coverage and soap operas

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students will see the programs and individually try to categorize it into three columns TV or radio or both. then they will check it into groups and try to give me an example either from our culture or an popular example.

pre teach vocabulary (3-5 minutes) • to make the listening text more accessible.

students will match the word with the photo

gist-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

students will Listen to five short extracts from different types of radio or TV programme. and will answer individually . What type of programme is each from? Is it more likely to be on TV, on radio, or could it be on either? then compare it in pairs

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

students will listen again and answer There are two questions in the quiz. Which categories do the questions belong to: art, geography, history, music, science? Where are the World Athletics Championships being held this year? Is Joe Rawlings a reporter, a runner or injured at the moment? What is the subject of the phone-in? What do we learn about Kerry's opinions? In the travel news, what is the cause of the dela on the M4? Is the situation on the M6 better or worse than before? What is the young man in the soap trying to tell the young woman? Does the young woman respond positively? individually then compare in pairs

follow up activity /Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
