Procedure (36-45 minutes)
Teacher shows students a picture collage of famous people. She asks students if they know any of the people in the picture. T asks students to work in pairs and talk about questions on the board. - Do people learn things from celebrities? Have you ever learned something from a celebrity?
Teacher asks students to look at the pictures and discuss who the people are, why they are famous and what they know about them. if there is a famous person that they don't know about, the teacher provides short information. The teacher asks students to open a thesaurus dictionary on their phones and look up some words that are from the text. Students check the words, take notes and share the results in a class discussion.
Teacher asks students to read the text and find the words they have just studied. After reading students share the sentences with the target words.
Students read the text again and do activity 1b - after reading and matching, teacher asks students compare their answers with their partners first. Teacher elicits the answers for the activity.
Students discuss 1d in pairs and share their ideas as a class discussion. Then, teacher wants students to work in pairs and find an inspirational quote that they like. Teacher shares some links to find some quotes online. Students pick a quote and share it on a Padlet wall. Students go around the classroom and share their quotes with friends and they tell each other what the quote is about and why they like it.
The teacher asks students to share their favorite quote that a classmate shared. Also she asks students to remember some words they have learned today and she makes notes on the board.
