Description
In this lesson, students will read a text comparing experiences in the city and the country. Students will cultivate their reading for gist and reading for specific comprehension skills. They will also express themselves to each other and develop some speaking skills. Mild vocabulary and pronunciation training.

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of living in the city or country
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Ask students if they live in the city or the country. Ask if they always have, or if they have moved. Show pictures.
Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
-Go over vocab re: expensive, dangerous, public transport, free time -MFP -Introduce the format of the text and the pictures
While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
-Read two minutes -Answer series of "this or that" questions on google forms -Review together
While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
-Read 5 minutes -Answer short answer questions on forms -Discuss with each other
Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
-Break out rooms to discuss interests with one another. Supervise.
