To provide product writing practice of a letter in the context of talents and abilities
Procedure (47-60 minutes)
Remind students of the last talent show we had at school, ask student if we hold another talent show what would they perform. what special talent they have . encourage them to use the verbs, I like, I am good at , extend this to : I practice, I enjoy , I don't mind, I detest, ..
write some of student's sentences on the board with both participle and gerund then draw a Venn diagram and ask them to complete it about participles, infinitive and gerunds. give them prompts about form and function add; absolute and appositive phrases and elicit what students know about them; prompt them by providing examples (computers having become common, manufacturers report fewer typewriters' sales. \ Mr. Robinson, a woman with a humble origin, owns chain of stores
