Procedure (30-45 minutes)
Discuss these questions. 1 Do you prefer inviting friends around for a meal or meeting them in a cafe or restaurant? Why? 2 When was the last time people came to your home for a meal? Who came? What did you cook/eat?
Students will listen to Judy and Martin talking at home. Then tick the true sentences. Correct the false ones. They will compare their answers in BORS 1 Judy wants Martin to tidy up the living room. 2 Judy's parents got lost on their way to the house. 3 Martin wants Judy to go and buy the salad. 4 Harry and Val used a map because their satnav broke. 5 Judy made the apple pie herself. 6 Val thinks the house is untidy.

Students will analyze the following: The thing I don't like about this house is there aren't enough places to store things. One thing that annoys me about you is you never give me time to look at a map. What I like about the house is it's cosy.
Students will rewrite the sentences using the introductory phrases . Begin the sentences with the words in brackets. EXAMPLE: 1 I admire Judy's patience. (What) What I admire about Judy is her patience. 2 I like Judy's cooking because it's really healthy. (The thing) 3 Judy amazes me because she never gets angry. (One thing) 4 I worry about Martin because he drives so fast. (The thing) 5 I love Martin's sense of humour. (One thing) 6 I don't like the way Val interrupts me. (What) 7 Harry never remembers my birthday. That annoys me. (What)
Students will write five sentences about people you know. Use introductory phrases. Ex: What worries me about my sister is she works too hard. Then work in pairs and compare sentences.
Provide Ss with feedback on language based on your monitoring of the task.
