Main Aims

To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about achieve something, succeed, manage to, able to, could etc. in the context of success and ability in childhood.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification of language used for talking about past abilities and current situation in the context of celebrity examples.
Procedure (35-41 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
T starts with Padlet. Asks ss to guess the topic in pair.
Pre-Reading/Listening (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
From the Padlet wall ss try to go through the glossary then remember as much as possible, in pairs. Then T shows the topic and content of the audio from the wall.
While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
T tells ss to focus on the a part of the chart and put tick or numbers to fill in.
While-Reading/Listening #2 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
Then, the class focuses on part B.
Post-Reading/Listening (19-20 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Students go to quizizz to answer post-listening activity questions. Then, they answer Reflection questions on Ziplet.
