In this lesson, students will learn some expressions to help them to speak about social behavior.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To practice speaking for accuracy and fluency using the expressions that they learned in the context of social behavior.
Procedure (31-45 minutes)
-T starts the session by asking ss: -when someone he helps you. Do you usually say 'thank you'? -Is it good manner or bad? Good. -When you see someone in the street picks their nose. Is it good manner or bad? Bad. -SS work in pairs and brainstorm some examples of good manners and bad manners that we have in our society. -SS mingle and ask each other some questions in the context of social behavior.
-T gives ss handout 1 and asks them to match the pictures with the words. -T monitors and provides help if needed. -T asks ss to check the answers in pairs. Content feedback.
-T elicits the answer from the ss and highlights the MPF of these expressions: To hug each other. To shake hands. To offer to pay. To insist on paying. To share the bill. To kiss someone on both cheeks. To go out on a date. To pick someone up. To take someone home. -T clarifies the meaning of these words.
T gives ss handout 2 and asks them to match. T monitors and provides help if needed. T switches the pairs and asks them to check the answers with new partner. T provides them with key answers.
T asks ss to discuss the questions in pairs using the new expressions.
