Procedure (38-52 minutes)
Show the students a video of Peppa Pig. Ask the students: "What's wrong with Peppa?" Follow up with: "Why did they call Doctor Brown Bear?" Ask: "When do we call or visit the doctor?" Elicit and discuss the answers.
Divide the students into 2 groups. Ask each group to work together to match the flashcards with the correct words. Monitor the students as they work. Once groups have finished, ask them to check their answers with the other group. Elicit the answers from the groups. Provide the correct answers and clarify any misunderstandings.
Show the students pictures related to the target language. Mimic the actions depicted in the flashcards. Elicit responses from the students and write their answers on the board. Explain the meaning of each target language word. Ask Concept Checking Questions (CCQs) to ensure understanding. Focus on pronunciation of the target language. Drill the target language, practicing pronunciation and usage.
Divide the class into two groups. Stick the flashcards to the board. Ask two students to come to the board at a time, one from each group. Give each of the two students a fly swatter. Explain the game: "I will say the meaning of a word. The first student to hit the correct flashcard with the swatter wins. The slower student will sit down, and another student from the same group will come up to take their place." Ask ICQs (Instruction Checking Questions) to ensure the students understand the game. Demonstrate the game with one example. Start the game.
Ask the students to work in pairs, with one student acting as the doctor and the other as the patient. Demonstrate the task to ensure students understand their roles and what is expected. Monitor the students as they complete the task, taking notes on their performance. Use the board to reflect on any mistakes or common errors, providing feedback and clarification.
