Description

In this lesson, students will learn about will / won't grammar through the talking about their jobs in the future and their plans for weekend. The lesson starts with a question about what they want to be in the future. They also will learn about the negative and question form of future sentences.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, I will ask about my students' job in the future. Then I will write them on the board. Then I complete the sentences.

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will write a sentence about future and I will tell them when we use will in the sentences.

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage, I will underline the subject, modal verb and base form of verb. Then I teach them how they should make a future sentences. I also teach them how to change the sentences into negative and question form.

Clarification (3-4 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

In this stage, they will know the different usage of will and won't. for example we use will and won't for promises, offers and decisions. Then together we produce some sentences based on what they learned.

Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

In this stage, I will draw a timeline to review past, present and future (CCQ). and I will ask them to do part 6A, exercises a and b on page 137. then we will check together.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In this stage, I will ask them to write 3 sentences containing positive, negative and question form of will should be used. Then give them to your classmate to read. I also ask them to do the next exercises on page 137.

Free Practice (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage, I will ask them to talk about their plans for this weekend in their groups. Then they can talk about it for the class.
