Procedure (38-60 minutes)
I will show them some pictures of places in a neighborhood and ask them "what do you need to find in a neighborhood?" and then write their answers on the board.
I will give them HO1 and ask them to do the parts. It involves three parts: ○words I know ○words I think I know but not totally sure ○words I don't know Then I will ask them to tell me what words they write in each box.
First I will teach them the words that they didn't know and then I will try to review the words that they know. I will teach the following words to the students by using different techniques: clothing store-hair salon-news stand-library-grocery store-laundromat-stadium-post office-Wi-Fi hot spot-drugstore -gas station-coffee shop-college campus- movie theater
First I will group them by giving names to them (bank, park). Then I will give them HO2. They should do part A & B in their groups. Then I ask them to check their answers together. Finally, I will give them the answerkey.
I will give HO3 to them and ask them to do part A in pairs. Then I will give them the answer key. I will ask them to do part B of the HO3, which is a role play. I will tell them to replace the places' names with the words in HO1 and act out a role play like the conversation.
I will ask them to talk about the topic "what is your favorite place in your neighborhood?" two by two.
