Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, Ss will have practiced reading the context of different organisations.

Subsidiary Aims

  • The Ss will have practiced speaking in the context of different organisations.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will ask the Ss: What's the meaning of an employee owend company? Do you know any employee ownend companies? What do you think about the sayinng that: " Companies should be owned by their employees".

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The T will ask the Ss to match the words to their definitions.

Prediction • To encourage Ss to predict/ think about content of the text

The T will divide the Ss into 2 groups (G.A/G.B) and ask them to predict the content of 2 different texts based on the pictures first and then on their titles.

While-Reading/ (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading

The T will ask the Ss about the main idea of the text?

While-Reading #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

a.The T will ask the the 2 groups to read their text and make a note of the key points about their company in the chart. b. Group A; talk to your partner what they have learned about Tata. Group B; ask your partner what they have learned about John Lewis. C. The T will mingle the 2 groups and ask the Ss of "A" and "B" to compare and contrast the two companies.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The T will ask the students to discuss : 1.What are the good and bad points of bringing in someone from outside to run a family·owned business? 2.2 Do you know of any company like john Lewis in your country? If so, how successful is it?
